Selection criteria

Winning projects, services or facilities will meet several or all of the following six criteria (described in more detail in the Nomination Form:

  • organisational commitment to disabiltiy equality
  • involvement of users
  • quality of output
  • sustainability and/or growth
  • accessible technology
  • inspirational value

The panel of judges are culture sector professionals and several have personal experience of disability.

The judges will give careful consideration to each nomination.

The judges are keen to know what organisations learn from engaging with disabled audiences. For the Jodi Awards 2013, they will be particularly keen to receive information about project evaluation - which tends to remain rare with accessibility projects. Projects that have been completed from September 2011. Older projects which are still running and which have emphasised evaluation will also be considered.

The shortlist is drawn up on the basis of:

  • the information provided with the nomination
  • viewing the websites of nominated projects

The Winners will then be selected on the basis of the above information and:

  • a site-visit report by disabled assessors for onsite projects
  • a report of extensive automated testing and user testing of websites

Projects, services and facilities will usually have been completed during the two year period period preceeding the submission deadline.

Projects that are older, but can demonstrate that they have been continuously developed or augmented during the two years prior to the deadline for nominations, are also eligible
